May 2nd would have marked the 14th anniversary of my business.
Depending on how you look at it… it still does.
Because whether under a different name or not, this is my 14th year in full-time entrepreneurship.
I’ve heard all the stories about the ups and downs over the years—but if I’m honest, I hadn’t really experienced them in a way that shook me… until I did.
For me, that moment came in 2022 when I made the decision to leave my marriage of twenty-six years.
If you know me personally, you know how central that relationship was to my identity. It grounded me. It shaped me. It was a part of how I understood myself in the world.
So why I underestimated the impact that decision would have on my life, my leadership, my business, and my brand…I’m not entirely sure.
But I did.
I underestimated it—terribly.
If you had told me then that it would take years before I felt motivated, inspired, or even ready to believe in my ability to lead transformation again…I probably would have laughed hysterically.
And yet… here I am.
After a long stretch of silence.
Under a new name.
With a renewed focus.
But with the same mission that has guided me from the very beginning.
LEADERSHIP LESSONS
Leadership Lessons (that held, even when I didn’t)
- Shift happens. And like construction, it almost always takes longer—and costs more—than you expect.
- You can’t out-strategize what you haven’t emotionally processed. I had the skills. I had the experience. But I still had to do the internal work before I could lead externally again.
- The fundamentals still hold. The 4 C’s—clarity, confidence, competence, and community—carried me from shift to shift, even in moments when I felt the most uncertain.
- Word of mouth is still the strongest foundation I’ve ever built. It kept me in business even after I made the difficult decision to scale back and lay off my team.
- And sometimes leadership means making decisions that don’t look like growth on the outside—but are necessary for survival and integrity on the inside.
I’ll be sharing more about this in the coming weeks—and in a new monthly briefing I’m planning—because there’s a lot I’ve learned that I’m ready to talk about now.
If you’re still here… I want you to know how much I appreciate it.
And I’d love to hear from you.
Whether it’s to reconnect, to share what you’ve been navigating, or just to say hello—I’m here.
And if you know someone who’s in the middle of a shift and could use support…
You can let them know:
I’m back.
With a little more lived experience than before.
And still deeply committed to helping leaders make shift happen.
